Meet Elisa

Elisa Yu-Shan Lion

Decades before the term became common in the English vocabulary, Elisa was an event planner. As a young girl growing up in a large family in Honduras, Elisa began designing and organizing all family holidays, festivals, and celebrations because she loved doing it. Elisa’s passion for event design, planning, and implementation for family and friends, and later for companies and organizations where she worked, finally led her to launch a career doing what she loves most.

During the past 20 years, Elisa has served in an event planning capacity at some level in each position she has held. While working at World Vision, one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world, she was responsible for planning and executing a wide array of events, including large conferences, constituent lobbying days of over 1,000 people, trainings, and complex international meetings. She handled all aspects of these events including planning, scheduling, logistics, venue selection, registration, catering, vendor negotiation and management, setup, and follow-up.

Elisa founded Order and Organization in 2007 as a part-time business. Since then, she has led the planning and execution of weddings, parties, and celebrations for a variety of clients, ranging from small, intimate affairs to 200+ guests. In 2015, Elisa took the business to full-time as her reputation for creativity, value, and excellence expanded, and her number of clients rapidly increased.

Recognizing that events are critically important to both individuals and organizations, Elisa considers it an honor to be a part of a client’s life and special celebrations such as weddings, birthdays, quinceañeras, baby showers, bridal showers, and more. Her designs are unique and luxurious!

In October 2016, Elisa launched her new premium brand, “Exceptional Events by Elisa”, offering expanded possibilities in event planning and design. This service produces high-end elegant affairs that meet the upscale demands of clients in the Washington, D.C. area.

Having made “outside the box thinking” and perfection on “the-day-of” the cornerstones of her business, she is known for being innovative with fresh, new designs, using colorful pattern combinations for tablescapes, and working with a variety of materials.

Elisa strives for her designs, materials, colors and themes to match the personalities and dreams of her clients. She wants every event to be unforgettable, and her clients unanimously affirm that Elisa delivers!

Be fabulous. Be empowered. Be Blown Away!

Let’s get personal…

God has graciously blessed me with many unique gifts and talents, so I often find myself wearing multiple hats and multitasking!

As a Catholic Christian, I am first and foremost a child of God. I am Honduran by birth, and a U.S. Citizen by choice. I am a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a godmother, a foster parent to four young men and three young girls, a mentor, a sponsor, a guide, a business partner, and last but certainly not least, a furry mama to Kahlua, Bailey, Brandy, Bourbon, Jalapeño, and Pinky Pinky Doo! I hope to add Whiskey and Margarita/Tequila to the pack in the future!

I am the daughter of a soccer player who made the Honduran National Soccer Team at the young age of 16, and a former soccer coach for two all-boys recreational soccer teams and one all-boys travel soccer team. I founded a nonprofit that sponsored economically disadvantaged soccer players, helping them participate in travel soccer teams. Our fundraising allowed for these players to cover registration fees with full scholarships, purchase gear and uniforms, and receive balanced nutrition and medical care. One of my captains became a 2023-2024 member of the U.S. National Deaf Men’s Soccer Team, and I am also the proud parent of a Marine veteran!

In addition to all of that, I am an Event Planner, an Event Designer, an Immigration Court Interpreter, a hobby lab dog breeder, an artist, a foodie (I have a sweet tooth and love seafood and cheese), a movie lover, and a friend. I love to travel and spend time on a body of water. Water is my soul and spirit therapy – kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skiing, and swimming in the crystal clear waters of Roatan, Honduras, is my idea of heaven on earth. My home and my dogs are my sanctuary, and I cherish every moment spent there.

I love people, and I look forward to meeting you!
